Birthday boy: The Kylie effect
Then they did a little song.
After the singing and dancing, she had much to say about our dear Timothy. In fact she had presented an award with him in America a few years back.
Performed at the Brits together
Hung out with friend Dita Von Teese at a Dior fashion show
Also, very unknown fact about the Doctor Who Christmas Special Voyage of the Damned. Before the shooting of the show began David Tennant came down a mysterious disease and Russell Davies wasn't sure he could be ready in time. So naturally he called his old friend Tim. Because he had gotten some footage from the original Star Trek series and loved what he'd seen. Unfortunately for Tim David got well in time, and he was bumped. Although secretly Kylie was rooting for Tim. Here is one of the original promo photos for the Christmas Special.
As I don't like having my picture taken, and wasn't really in the mood for having one taken on the day. Which Kylie was a bit sad about, I promised to post an old photo of us together after a party.
It had become quite late and she had to put on a show in front of 15,000 eager Argentinian fans, we said our goodbyes. Before IDV and I left (we had to get him down to the docks before the ships left dock) Kylie had this message for Tim.

Birthday boy: The violation
I can't even begin imagine how traumatised Tim was by that.

Birthday boy: The popstar
We met at her studio and she confessed to knowing a bit more about our Tims American life. He'd become an American star whose fame didn't quite make it to Europe. Much the opposite of Robbie Williams. Then again, she said, Tim wasn't THAT desperate. He'd been on her show a few times too.
They had danced a lot on that show, given the fact that he was the original member of N'sync and all. Oh yes, she said, but since the media consultants thought it would be bad press to have an English boy in the band when promoting in Europe they'd made a sort of crossover. Whenever N'sync would promote and tour in the US, Tim would come over and do his thing, and when in Europe it would be Justin Timberlake.
He had become really famous in the States and after a while became Justin Timberlakes stand-in.
The American promos made Tim quite famous.
After a few creative differences with the stylists Tim left the band. The shock of Tims departure made the band fall apart and not even Justin Timberlakes desperate attempts could save the band.
Suddenly Ellen was called in to do her show and so she left with this message
With this very interesting surprise, I had to go on to see just what happened to Tim Leng the popstar. Had he really retired or was he still very active in the US.

Birthday boy: The CW lot
It turns out they were shooting some of the stuff for The OC on that lot. So when I went there to meet one of my dear friends Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls (who was doing something secret there), I met someone else.
Unfortunately I'd made the mistake of bringing along someone from the infamous Coven.
I did however manage to get them to pose for a proper photo together, for Tim.
Still no matter what that wall behind them says, I'm not sure they'll ever become "best friends". However Autumn Reeser is really trying to make light of the situation. Bless.
Funny story about the first time Tim.met Autumn. She told it while Lauren was getting ready to leave. Reeser was heading over to the Starbucks and so was Tim. She smiled at him, introduced herself and he just had a goofy grin on his face. Too shy to speak, she recalled. During but Tims run on Smallville they became Starbucks buddies and they would spend their off screen time on the lot together rehearsing their lines and drinking mocca-caffah-frappe-lattas - or something like that. She shared a photo of them together from the last time they met.
Then Lauren Graham came over and we had to go in order to make our reservations at the newest hot spot. We talked in the limo on the way to the restaurant and I naturally told her of my friend Tim who had a birthday coming up on Monday November 10. She said, "are you talking about Tim Leng?". After I agreed, she told me of how they met back when she was doing Gilmore Girls.
Of course, back then Tim didn't have eyes for anything other than Autumn Reeser, she said. That was also why he didn't return to Smallville for a second season. I smiled, "I can only imagine". Then she told him how the girl Rory, or Alexis Bledel had had a huge crush on him and wanted him to join the cast. However her real boyfriend at the time, Milo Venticaramelmacchiata put a stop to it. He simply didn't want to lose her. Still they both sent their birthday wishes.
Tim did make one episode of Gilmore Girls where he got to meet the fabulous Kelly Bishop (the mother to Baby in Dirty Dancing) and she thought he was ever so delightful.
At that point we'd already driven IDV to the docks and we'd gone to dinner. When Lauren Graham followed me back to the Beverly Hills Hotel, she said that she'd come get me in the morning. She had big plans. I had no idea what was in store for me. All she said was to bring my camera.
The next morning I was picked up and driven back out to the CW lot and this is what I was met with.
Later it was time to cut the cake.
Unfortunately I'd brought IDV along. I asked him if he had other expressions. He said no. So you can't really tell that he was actually enjoying this party. I think his expression stuck after meeting Autumn Reeser. Bless.

Birthday boy: The discovery
I know you were thinking it yesterday, even if nobody asked why Tim has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A movie star, so to speak. That's one of the many things I've been up to over the weekend.
With all due respect, who knew what a nightmare it is to celebrate the birthday of our blog star Tim. Then you want to have somebody do something and they are not available, and then there the ones who cannot be in the same room as someone else. Complete nightmare. Luckiely I think I came up with a good selection of Tims many A list friends. Three Gucci minis and a pair of strappy Manolo Blahniks later.
Now where were we? Yes, movie star. Hollywood Walk of Fame. Why? Well, I was having a delightful lunch with one of Tims Facebook friends, The Shat. First off he asked me to bring this message to our dear birthday boy.
Besides that he had a little story to tell all of us, who are not in the know. You see, it turns out that our Tim is actually an actor. You see, when Star Trek first aired in the US, our dear birthday boy was in cast.
The Shat spoke with fondness about Tim and shared these original promo shots from the first US airing of the show.
Sadly before the show aired in the rest of the world, something happened. The show was a huge success but with success comes renegotiation of contracts. The Shat told me, after he got his fee, there was nothing for Tim and so Tim had gotten the boot. His scenes were re-shot with a cheaper actor and the re-worked show is now the only available version. The following shot was taken the day Tim left the set.
After this, Tim left the business but he made a quick comeback on Smallville for the CW network as the Green Arrow.
He hoped he would end up on the same lot where they shot The O.C.
Come back again tomorrow for yet another day of Sparkly Tim Happy Birthday Action
Birthday boy
So we dedicate the rest of the week to this fabulous man.

Mortens Aften
One day every year, today actually. Well it's not today, it's not until tomorrow. This is a pretty complicated day. Tonight, November 10, is "Mortens Evening" this is the eventful bit but tomorrow is actually "Mortens Day". The funny thing is the man the day is named after was actually not named Morten. His name was Martin, but this was back in the year 300 and something. Having taken the time to do a bit of research on this, I've found out that it was St. Martin who didn't want to become bishop.
So one day, on November 10 he hid on a sty where geese were kept but the geese made a lot of noise alarming the people looking for him and he was found and forced to become bishop. Apparently he made a decree that on November 11 everyone should kill and eat geese. As goose was such a large and expensive meal, it was later changed for the cheaper and smaller duck. I'm assuming that the reason why we now eat it on Mortens evening instead of Mortens Day is because every tradition changes over the years.
For many years Mortens Aften hasn't been celebrated or used commercially to sell things, but in recent years it's made a comeback. For my mother it's a test of what Christmas is going to be like. As per tradition my mother cooks a duck, does white and brown potatoes (coated in caramel), red cabbage and a rice pudding which isn't actually rice pudding but all this food is so Danish it doesn't have English words. I'll try to find recipes at some point. It was at such an event back in 2004 where I threw a hissy fit in the middle of dinner and stormed out in front of my ex sister in laws parents and my drunken aunt because my brothers brats were at their very worst and my brother did nothing about it.

Don't forget to vote
As I don't have any rights to vote in your fair country, and I am in the spirit of taking a stand, I'm voting for this Guy.
As he and the old hag Madge are divorcing, it's time to take a stand. Which side are you on, Guys or the old hag?
I say Guy should try and get as much of her money as he possibly can. Afterall he's been married to her for almost 8 years. Can you imagine being married to this?
Not only is she having some sort of midlife crisis that's been going on for the past 6 years or so, but she's showing particular bad style here. Her body is also pretty disgusting. Who'd want to have sex with that? If I met that in a dark alley I'd say a silent prayer and die of fright. Sarah Palin is looking pretty good right about now, isn't she?

I love the 80s
It's no secret (Tee-hee! get it?) I love the 80s, and this Paula Abdul song with the video is one of my favorites. So when it was time for me to buy a new pair of shoes, there was only one pair for me.
They were 50% off so I couldn't not buy them. I've never actually owned a pair of Converse All Star shoes before. I love them. Of course I have nothing to wear them with, but I suppose I'll figure something out.Wednesday, October 29, 2008
The colour brown
but more of a faux pas brown, like this
As you already are aware I had a childhood friend and colleague over for the weekend. He arrived on Friday and left yesterday afternoon. I would love to be able to say that everything went great. That we had a brilliant time but we didn't. At least I didn't. Everything went great Friday where I bought a Nintendo Wii. I've been wanting one for some time now and as I left work early I was able to swing by the shops to buy one. I also bought a few games.
We went back to my flat so that he could dump his bags and then we could figure out what we were going to do. After much discussion we ended up playing some Wii (he calls it Wii-Wii, I assume it's because he must be mildly retarded or just can't read) and went downstairs to fetch a pizza.
Now, all evening I heard nothing else but how he was going to go spend a lot, A.LOT. of money on clothes and shoes. It sounded like he had brought his big wallet. But we firstly went to this fantastic music shop near the Copenhagen Zoo. The CDs and movies were dirt cheap and we both spent way too much money. After that we went into town and walked up and down the highstreet looking at shops. He pointed out which shops he thought he might find something he liked in, but when I asked if we should go in there he said no. He thought we should wait until Monday for that. Hmmm. After that, we went back home and watched a couple of movies. He showed surprisingly good taste by both liking Stardust and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I was shocked. He is usually more into American Pie and other teenage comedies.
Sunday we just hung out back at my place. We did go for a walk because he wanted to see the neighbourhood (I assume it was to point out the bad neighbourhood but it isn't - hah! joke's on him!). All in all he was being a bit of a sourpuss. I gave him every chance to go somewhere, alone or with me, but he didn't seem to want to go anywhere. I went to bed really early that night because he wanted to watch American Football. Ok, I still don't get it. Most of the first game I was sleeping on the sofa, but then they mentioned tight ends and wide receivers and I woke up. Only to be sorely disappointed.
Monday was a real winner. We went back into town and walked down the highstreet. It was not horrid weather and he quickly located a Foot Locker where he found a pair of shoes he liked. They were brown. I let that pass because some people like brown shoes and who am I to question that. Although to me it is a bit bizarre. I did ask if he wore brown belts, to which he said he didn't wear belts. My question to you now is, what are the rules then? Anyway on we went to another shoe shop where he located another, much nicer pair of shoes but he picked them out in brown. They looked so lovely in black. Still he didn't buy anything.
We walked down the street looking at shops, and I made suggestions to go into a bunch of shops, all looking like they had some kool clothes. Yet he didn't want to. He just said it didn't look like they had anything in his style (i.e. brown) and everything was either too trendy, street or smart. He said that a few times before I was brave enough to tell him I didn't understand why he went over here to expect to sell the exact same stuff as back where he lives. If he was after the same stuff, he should shop back there and frankly the trends over here are different. It's less provincial here. He naturally took offence. So we walked past a few other shops that had really nice stuff before we found a shop he wanted to look into. When I say look into, I mean just that. The doors were open, and he put his head inside, there was hardcore rap music blaring out of the speakers and a bunch of hoodies that would look good on some Eastside gangbangers. He looked at a few T-shirts and said he kind of liked them and then immediately changed his mind again. After we left that doorway I needed a lobotomy. I don't know if it was the shopping or the music, but it was horrid. By then he decided he was only going to buy a pair of shoes, and so he did.
I wouldn't mind going shopping with him, and going through every single shop looking for ick and poo brown T-shirts and not finding any. It would have been fine, if he had just put his heart into it. But going shopping with someone who just walks about looking down at everything for not being exactly like he wants it and not making an effort. That's just wrong. I will never go shopping with that stickly no brain creature again. Of course the same day we had a huge row and we went to a huge mall. In fact the largest in Scandinavia, but he of course didn't believe that and said the one close to him in a provincial town was much larger. Normally I would have just let it go but I couldn't. It wasn't pretty. That was another very early night for me.
Tuesday I had to get up really early because some workmen came by to check out the ventilation in the kitchen and bathroom. One of the guys complimented my shower faucet thingy to which my friend grumbled something. This was the day of annoyances. He started bugging me on purpose and it got pretty bad and we left for the central train station at 2pm even though his train didn't leave until 3.50pm.
Of course the flat looked like a bomb had gone off after I got back. He didn't help tidy up anything at all. In the mornings he just got up really early and went into my cupboards and found some cheerios on his own and ate that. He just left his dirty dishes by the sink. Even the little things bother me and they still do. We have agreed (before he came over) that we are going to the States together for 4 weeks next year. I don't know if we'll both make it home alive though. He nearly didn't make it out of my flat alive after day 4.
This is some of the stuff I bought while he was here. I also bought Family Guy Season 1, Marie Antoinette and another DVD and a pair of shoes. You'll probably see the shoes in an upcoming post.

Wheel - of - Fortune!
First up we have a clip of the final word, the man can win a Suzuki Swift (I think) if he guesses the word. This will be your introduction to the Danish language. The word they are looking for is "watch maker"
The second clip is from a comedy new years edition of the show. That is pretty damn hilarious. I remember watching it on TV many years ago. I was in stitches the entire time, but as you probably don't understand the what is being said it may be less funny to you. But interesting never the less I hope.

Acceptable in the 80s
This youtube video is a song from the Danish version of the Eurovision back in the 80s. I don't know the exact time but it's hideously fabulous. I give you Laban with "Hvor skal vi sove i nat?" or "Where are we sleeping tonight?" if you would translate it to English.

Pop!ular
Ok, so I was tagged by the fabulous Tara of Eclectic Spaghetti. I have to admit I went back to the one who tagged her, laura b to see the exact rules, and I stole them. Here they are.
Here are the Rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs (I've only picked four)
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.
Here goes...
- I don't drink tap water. Denmark has some of the best tap water in the world, I'm told. In fact where I used to live the tap water was wonderful and I do drink it when I go home to visit but in Copenhagen it tastes like dirty swimming pool.
- My love for my iPhone has cooled off a bit. I sort of miss my old Sony Ericsson Z610i.
- The last song I've heard on my iPhone before coming into work is the song I walk around humming/singing to myself before I go home. When I get home I don't walk around singing any songs. Unless of course I've got my headphones on of course.
- I love writing proper letters but I have a hard time starting. My birthday was September 29 and I'm yet to write thank you letters to the people who sent me gifts.
- If I want something bad enough, there is no telling what I'll do to get it. Except breaking the law.
- I totally believe in killing animals for fashion. Even baby seals. If that makes me a bad person I don't want to be a good person.
Ok so now onto the tagging. Pheeeew that's difficult I think. So here we go
If you haven't been tagged and want to do it, feel free to do it and please leave a message for me in the comments.

Stealer
So I've decided to steal, or borrow (although I have no plans to give it back) a suggestion. Post a photo of a household item. I'm actually doing the opposite, because I don't have any CD racks. The shame! All my CDs have been unceremoniously dumped into a moving box where my CDs rest until I find the right racks.
