Danish Delights

This week I've taken it upon myself to show you a bit of what Denmark has to offer in the way of music. Today you'll be pleased to watch all of five Eurovision entries with mixed results spanning from 1963 to 1990 which is when it stopped being kool (it's become kool again now of course). The whole family used to sit down and watch the Eurovision, National and International every year. I remember we had cheese and crackers and I was allowed up until it ended. It was a very big deal. You can clearly see why.

1963s Winner - Grethe & Jørgen Ingemann - "Dansevise"

1983s entry - Gry - "Kloden Drejer"

1987 entry - Anne-Cathrine Herdorff - "En lille melodi"

Ok story time. I remember that one. I was a huge fan. Honestly now I can't see why, except maybe the shoulderpads. They are huge.

1989 entry - Birthe Kjær - "Vi Maler Byen Rød"

Another one I remember mostly because of the outfit. But the song is a classic now.

1990 entry - Lonnie Devantier - "Hallo Hallo"

I remember the song but I not the performance and I can see why. Oh my!

I'll be back with more Danish things another day.

  4. Scarlet: It's 1980s Eurovision, what is there to be scared of?

MJ: It's your introduction into all things Danish. How can you not watch it?

Daisy: I'm shocked! You are so openminded and then this.

I'm shocked to my very foundation.

  6. Naughty, naughty Denmark.. I heard quite a few 'lifted' riffs amongst that lot! Goodness me!
And what the hell was going on in 1983?

  7. 1990 looks like she just rolled out of bed....scruffy baggage .

  9. The first one is my fave. Great voice and guitar playing.

The second one by Gry is so very 80s! Esp with the clothing and dance moves.

The third one's big shoulder pads matched the big jewelry and big poofy pants.

The fourth one was upbeat and fun.

The last one was very high energy. An interesting mix. Good variety.

  10. Clear off Tim! There's no room for you here, too!

Although, maybe you could squeeze in after all...?

  13. It's MJ's bunker, leave her alone. I think you should get out - you're too tall and your freakish fingers are upsetting everyone.

  15. Scarlet: Or they were stealing riffs from us? Mmmmmm?

By the way, who and what do you mean?

Beastie: Isn't that just gotten out of bed normally a turn on for a straight man?

I admit she did look awful but usually.

Tim: Don't we don't like the Eurovision?

Bingowings: I know, Gry is so 80s. I started to appreciate it after watching it the 3rd time. I know, but I was puzzled about the dance moves.

IDV: I'm outraged! I thought at least you would understand. I'm revoking your gay card!

    Hand it over at once!

MJ: With Tim in there, you won't get IDV to leave. He'll always be there, like that old coat you can't get yourself to throw out.

IDV: Your gay card is revoked, see earlier comment. So do what you like, but you know you are forced to be with *gags* girls now.

Tim: You are safe, IDV isn't gay anymore or at least he's a rogue gay without his powers.

Scarlet: Don't blame the delightful Eurovision music.
