I'll show you mine, if you show me yours

I have always been facinated by movies and television. When I was a mere kitten playing around in the rejects of my mothers wardrobes she took me to watch Disney Classics at the movies. It started when I was very young so I suppose I must have been one of those brats I hate so much today. When I started making money of my own I also started going to the movies with friends and subsequently met a guy who is my best friend today. He was also very much into movies and that's when I started buying them when they came out. Back then it was VHS tapes, shoddy quality, almost as bad as when you record a movie from TV today IDV.

As time goes by, things become outdated and you must move on unless you want to live in the past. So I started buying DVDs and when one I had on VHS was heaviely discounted I would buy it and give the VHS tape to someone who would appreciate it. I still have a few VHS tapes that I haven't been able to find on DVD but they are packed away in a box somewhere back home at my parents house.

Well, enough back story. I harassed IDV about showing the contents of his DVD racks and he did. Since we all know the saying "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" I've decided to show you mine too. So I give you, the contents of my DVD racks.

And now we zoom in for a closer look

Well you may not recognise a lot of them as they have a tendency to translate the titles into Danish here. Some of the Danish titles don't even make sense. I have about 5 Danish movies, the rest are in fact foreign.

Now it's your turn to do it.

  4. Oh! I have a lot of those! Good taste, eh?

Yes - which one do you go back to the most?

  5. Tee hee..you have some of the "Scary Movie" movies. They are some of my guilty pleasures.

That is an amazing collection of movies! Now I'm tempted to take a photo my collection!

  6. Savannah: There is little else better than movies by the Hepburns

Bingowings: I borrowed a few to some colleagues 6 months ago. I'm trying to get them back. So, I have a few more. STill I'm surprised at how many I have. It's just sort of been growing.

Buffy kicks arse! Got to have some Buffy, but I only have season one.

MJ: I keep coming back to 4.

Bedazzled, Cruel Intentions, Miss Congeniality and Coming To America.

Coming To America only when I count how many times I watched the VHS tape I recorded that and Pretty Woman on many, many years ago. If I owned Pretty Woman on DVD it would have been up there too.

T-Birdy: Yes! Can't wait to see how we match on freakbook.

Tara: I'd absolutely love to see them! The Scary Movies were hilarious and I remember sitting at the movies watching the first 3 - being the only one laughing.

I had a fantastic time and I didn't stop laughing until after leaving the movies.

    But, um, Gigli?! Really…?

  8. S.W.A.T?! I'm guessing Colin Farrell factored heavily in that purchase? It sure couldn't have been the storyline...

  9. Oh heavens... I've just seen Geri's yoga DVD too. No one's gonna mistake you for a Breeder are they?!

  10. Tim: Well you have to own a bad movie - or two. I haven't watched it yet though. Found in the £2 bin and with all the bad press it got, I had to get it.

IDV: Colin Farrell was not bad looking in that, was he?

Your eyes spot everything don't they!?!

I thought I had you satisfied with telling you about the Girls Aloud dvd but noooooo.

Maybe I should give the yoga a go? I like Geri

  12. I am absolutely green with envy over your incredible DVD collection. Particularly your TV on DVD.

  13. T-Birdy: And SEAN BEAN! You are so right!

  16. I loved 'Queer as Folk'
It was set in the Gay Village where I used to work.
My laboratory window looked out over the bars and clubs featured.

I'm not doing this meme - but I've just done the 'five' one.

  17. Laboratory? Where you were cooking up designer drugs?

    Sounds like fun!

However the Queer As Folk I've got is the US edition, so Ted lives and you won't see bars unless you go to Toronto

  18. The occassionally filmed some Queer as Folk (US/Toronto) on the street where I lived when I lived in Toronto. It was exciting to see the big trucks all pull up for a shoot, but not so much fun for all of the delays.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes the delays are quite annoying.

I'd love to be able to point on the screen and say "oh, see that window with the blue flower pot up there? I live there"

  20. I finally posted a photo of my movie collection! I definitely need a designated area for my movies, they're all in my linen closet on the top two shelves.

  21. YAY! It looks awesome Tara!

It's important to have a nice place for them though. But what works for you. They do take up a lot of space.

Most of my CDs are in moving boxes.

  22. Very close? He is the most handsome man EVAH!

I'm with the Vicar of Dibley on this one.

  23. I wouldn't say no, and I'd be depressed if he wouldn't however there are other studs out there.

He just happens to be a very sexy package.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh and I LOVE The Vicar of Dibley!

  25. Pete:
You must see the English 'Queer as Folk' - it came out a long time ago but the DVD is still around.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kaz I must - are you in it holding a vodka martini?

Actually i saw the first or the first bit of the first episode but it didn't catch on. They said the exact same lines as the American version just with a Manchester accent which was a bit upsetting for me.

    Were they also less attractive?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh I didn't know it was exactly the same.
I think most of the actors were straight and not very sexy in that certain kind of way - more Northern gritty types.
