I don't know what it is

It all started with IDV rambling on and on and on about the show Pushing Daisies. About how great it was and how much he loved it (and Ned I seem to recall). So I thought I'd give it a chance. I like watching TV series as it's easy entertainment and it only takes around an hour (including commercials). Why not? So I watched the first 3 episodes.

Guess what? I don't hate it. I don't know what it is about it. If it's the outfits, the narration (which is absolutely fantastic by the way) or Ned (who may have to start trimming his eyebrows). Well I don't hate it. I certainly want more, but I'm not sure if I like it. Does that make sense?

Anyway I will keep watching and then maybe, just maybe I'll grow to love it.

  1. I've never seen that show. Just not into too much TV, although I am watching "I Love the New Millenium" on VH1 this week.

  2. I've not bothered watching it… there's something about it that doesn't make me want to watch it.

  3. Tara: I've never heard of that.

Must say I'm a little surprised that music video channels like VH-1 and MTV feature so few music videos and so many reality and other series

Sparkly Tim: It's icky sweet. I've just finished episode 4. I swear my teeth ache.

  4. It's a funny, lovely show, isn't it?

I absolutely adore all the outfits! And the pallette they use - it's so bright and cheerful. It's a fantastic concept for a show, and you're right. The narration really makes it work!

  5. Also, I may or may not have been inspired by Chuck's hairstyle lately...

  6. It's a charming show, that has its moments.

The colours, the cardboard looking backgrounds and outfits are really good.

The idea of the show is great but I'm not sure I like it. Some moments I really do like it a lot and then the next not so much.

I like that they are all so cheerful. Even poor Olive.

    The aunts are ace.

  7. Sounds interesting. I like shows that are original and kind of off the wall, like Northern Exposure back in the day, or Buffy, or Angel, hell, I even like Burn Notice and Psyche...there be a lot of good tv shows; just not enough time to watch 'em all.

  8. True. The thing is, I loved Buffy, and really wanted to love Angel. However the only reason for me to watch it was David Boreanaz being cute. So I didn't watch it.

I followed Charmed, and managed to watch every episode.

This show is original although without having seen Bewitched it seems to reference that. Or I may be wrong.

  9. Eros, it's actually WAY better than Northern exposure. At least, in my humble opinion. Perhaps I am basing that on how sexable the leads were. Joel Fleishmann was a bastard, whereas the piemaker is sensitive, sexy and cool. And his voice.... oh the voice. Tangent: all people who sex men - do you or do you not love a mellifluous voice in your ear?

    End drunken tangent.

Petra! Cardinal sin! Well, not really. I think I am the cardinal sinner... I liked Angel waaay better than Buffy. She was a whiny little shit. He, at least had been around the block a time or two. Plus, Wesley was in his show. I liked Wesley. He's teh sexay. I think I've told you I can't heart the Boreanez due to a resemblance between him and my bro.

Charmed? I have to admit I liked it - but was disturbed by the stupid Morrissey cover of "How Soon is Now" for their theme song. A musical travesty, children.

    < end rant >

Did I just make a html joke? Was that html? Jesus. I am a nerd.

  10. I haven't watched this.
But I love Anna Friel who had the first lesbian kiss on British TV in the soap - Brookside.
She comes from Rochdale near Manchester

  11. T-Birdy: I didn't find Buffy whiney at all. I liked her. She kicked arse.

    Is your brother single? ;0)

I am not good with html so I wouldn't know. I did look like you did. I like nerdy birdy.

KAZ: Are the two related? Her being from near Manchester and having her first lesbian kiss on British Tv?

    Hmmm

  12. Ned must NEVER trim his eyebrows - They're just perfect the way they are!

I've just finished watching the entire series (all 9 episodes - stupid writers strike) on DVD. It's possible that I love it even more than the first time around.
I know I love Ned more. I feel like poor Olive with her unrequited love for him.

  13. P.S. T-Bird: I love your rant! And I do love a mellifluous voice in my ear, too. It makes my neck go all tingly and my legs turn to jelly. Ahhhhh...

  14. I've made it to episode 6.

I did love Olive doing the Grease song. That was so sweet and funny.

  15. Kaz sexes men but the way she talks I think she's a closet lezzer.

She tried to snog me once.

  16. A closet lezzer you say?

You think she's wearing lots of flannel

  17. Kaz is butch on the bottom (Doc Martens) and femme on the top (lipstick).

I'm not sure she has the lezzer thing figured out yet.

Perhaps she should stick with sexing men.

  18. I think she'd do better as a straight woman.

  19. Nothing wrong with bi-ing a little time trying to decide ;)

  20. Everything mj says is true.

I do wear Docs and I did snog mj - but otherwise I'm hetero.
