Hot and fabulous

It's all down hill from now on.

I've been waiting to go since the KYLIEX2008 tour was announced and I'd even considered going to abroad to see it if she didn't bring it to Denmark. However she did, and right into my backyard or well let's say a couple of thousand blocks down the road from where I live. So after something that was such a bit thing one can't help but wonder. So now, what? It's over, and my schedule doesn't have other things equally fabulous in it for a long time. Going to the movies alone to watch The Indiana Jones movie or even Sex & the City somehow doesn't quite scream glamorous. It's so bad in fact that I'm considering getting any ticket available for one of her other shows. Possibly a UK date. Yes it was.

It was THAT fabulous!

The doors opened at 6pm and obviously we were late but thankfully they hadn't openend the doors yet and even with the huuuuuge line in front of the venue it didn't take too long to get in.

But there we stood in line. Waiting. In the sweltering heat. Sun baking on my lily-white (or ghostly, but the other sounds better) skin. In the middle of the road actually, hoping no cars would come before we'd moved on. Not caring so much about the annoying cunts behind us.

After we got in (note to self: Getting felt up by an attractive security guy is not at all too unpleasant - go to more concerts) we headed for the drinks stand as it was so hot. We got water, lots of water. Then headed over to look at the merchandise of which we bought nothing. I have ordered mine online as I didn't want to be lugging it around during the concert. I do however regret not buying something. A T-shirt or something to say, "I bought this at the Kylie concert". Anyway, not much to do about that now. Online they sold fans, and if they had sold those at the venue they could have made a killing. It was hotter than a bath house sauna, and that's before they closed the doors. We headed off to the stage to get a good spot. Front and center pretty close. Not first row but it was good enough for us (that way we could avoid getting on those awful cameras projecting the crowd on the big screens. So we waited looking at this.

Endlessly facinating. The people behind us were screaming "I love Kylie" and waving their glowsticks around from around 7 but had calmed down by 8.30 when the show started.

The show was awesome. Kylie was on her toes. In an absolutely fantastic mood dancing and singing and talking to the crowd. She even spoke a bit of Danish which is a cheap way to get in touch with your audience but with a personality and charm richer than the best of Champagnes it came off quite natural. She talked, and really connected with her audience. But wouldn't you if actual royalty was present.

Yes I was there, and for me she'd naturally do anything, but our crown prince and his Australian wife were there too. In the opposite end of the poshness scale was those 30 something year old queens partying way past their prime in T-shirts and jeans they obviously had trouble fitting into 5 years ago. Last night they couldn't even zip up their pants properly and the seams on their dingy T-shirts were stretched to full capacity and could possibly burst any second. Yet they still danced around like it was 1989. Bless.

My camera phone didn't do well in the venue so I only have a couple of photos but my mate took some photos that will give a hint of what it was like. Still if you find yourself able, go see her show. It's hot and fabulous. Maybe in your case mostly fabulous.

She ended the 2½ hour show (including a fifteen minute break) with an eXtra encore of I Should Be So Lucky which she does not do every night. It's only done on a very good day and we were a loud, rowdy and dancy crowd.

Thanks Min! Can't wait to see you again soon.

  1. You should've watched those movies before seeing Kylie. Just like you don't want to go on the tallest roller coaster first and then expect much from the smaller ones. Not that Kylie's a roller coaster, but still. ;)

  2. You are right, but there isn't anything that's going to top last night.

Not like, ever. It was just awesome.

I want to go again tonight, so I have to check the balance on my account and get some emergency vacation and fly off to the UK.

    Although highly unlikely

  3. That picture where she's being held up by the legs by cheerleaders … makes her look like they're gonna split her like a wishbone!

  8. Sparkly Tim: She is really limber. It got even worse, her legs got even higher up.

T-Birdy: I don't believe I've been to a better concert since I saw Kylies On a Night Like This tour around 7 years ago.

If you don't have that DVD go get it, it's packed with totty!

Savannah: I was dancing from the second the first Kylie track started up. Her vocal was superb.

MJ: For a second I thought I might have, but it was just sweat running down my inner thigh.

    It was THAT hot.

Bingowings: You certainly have the looks for it.

As for the seating. We were very close. She had eye contact with all of us up front. It was a standing concert though which was tough on my feet.

    I still can't walk properly.

  9. "Online they sold fans" OMG! Kylie kidnaps fans and sells them to the highest bidder (probably Madonna - She really needs them right now, poor dear). You were lucky to escape, CyberPetra!
