I can't for the life of me come up with a title

I was supposed to clean my appartment today. A friend of mine is coming to stay with me from Friday to Tuesday, so it has to be at least somewhat clean here. The plan was to clean the bathroom and do the floors but I ended up on the sofa flicking through magazines. I like looking at pretty things I can't afford. Then I switched to the Ilva catalogue because I can actually afford that, and I do need new furniture.

The things I need the most is a lamp and a little carpet for my sofa arrangement. Inspired by what IDV did this morning I'll post the photos of what I found, and want. So here we go.

Who doesn't need a shag carpet? Comments and advice is very welcome. Not that it's ever stopped you before.

I know! What do you think about the lamp?

  3. That lamp looks very space age. Does it hang from the ceiling?

I'm supposed to be doing school work right now, but I think pretty soon I'm going to go back to bed and flick through some non-school books.

  4. It does hang from the ceiling, by a red cloth cord. I like it a lot but I'm afraid my flat will end up looking like one of those theme pages in a catalogue.

You know, the impersonal setups with the A chrome lamp with red cloth cord, also comes in opal glass £79.90

Good luck with your non-school books. They are the best kind you know.

  6. I'm a big fan of the bare floors ;) though, I do enjoy a small, carefully maintained, soft rug.

I like the shiny metal lamp, but I'm not sure how to figure out how to hang it up from the ceiling--too many wires and trying to figure out the best way to place it. The red rug looks very snug and plush, soft. If you like it, and can afford it, then go for it!

And if you can't decide what to get, I'm sure your mother can give you some good advice the next time they visit ;)

    Happy hosting with the friend!

  7. MJ: You can say that again!

Bingowings: I like my wooden floors but it looks too bare without something under the coffee tables. Plus my sofa is so big and black it needs a colour that can break up all the blackness. The floors do nothing for it.

The lamp works on paper, not sure it does when I hang it. There is only one wire and a very subtle thing to attach to the ceiling (my father will do that as I don't do manual labour)

My mother will have no influence on my decorating. That would be scary, things would end up all beige. No, that's not completely fair, their kitchen is a horrid green colour.

Thanks! I was looking forward to it when it was far away, now that it's on Friday.... not so much.

  10. MJ is right, as usual.
A good SHAG never goes out of style...and really pulls the room together!

  11. Absolutely!

Either it will end up looking fabulous or a complete faux pas. I will have to see once I get both.

  12. I think the lamp is metallically reflecting your retromatic fashion and style!

So in other words, it's exactly the lamp for me.
